New animal welfare regulations by 2023The Barock Pinto Studbook values animal welfare and unauthorized behavior towards thehorses will not be tolerated. At the moment animal welfare is very topical and a lot of people are concerned about the horse- sport and industry and everything is recordednowadays. We understand the concerns of our fellow citizens and, of course, we alsowant the best for our animals. That is why it has been decided to implement some new rules at inspections and other events of the Barock Pinto Studbook from 1 January 2023.We expect everyone to cooperate with this and we will also address owners if they do notcomply with this. Thank you!
-Burning away hair is not allowed under any circumstances.
-Cutting or shaving tactile hair is not allowed. This means the hair around nose and eye.Long (beard) hairs on the bottom of the jaw may be removed.
-Cutting out or shaving out the ears is not allowed. However, the long hairs protrudingoutside the ears may be removed.
-Cutting off or shaving away the hairs on the tail root is not permitted.
-Horses under three years of age should not be introduced with a bit.
-Nosebands shouldnot be tied too tightly.
-Horses participating in a Barock Pinto Studbook event should be used to being with people and behave like this. This is to prevent horses from appearing ‘straight out of the pasture’in the track with all the stress that entails.
-Horses may only appear at events in good condition. This applies to both highly emaciated animals and to horses that are too overweight.
– The hooves must be cared for, whether or not shod
-Owners of pregnant mares are advised not to participate in an event when the mare is
over half of her pregnancy(5.5 months)
-Unauthorized behavior may result in exclusion from an event.
This includes frequent whip use or heavy-handed pulling on the bit.
Of course we trust that this will never take place.
All judges or board members who are present and witness this behavior may come to this decision.
