This morning the post-inspection of the stallion inspection took place at the Sunrise Stables in Assen, see the results here. The stallion Maverick fan ‘e Wylgen became Ster with breeding license here. A generous long-lined stallion with a solid build and more than sufficient breed expression. He trots with a lot of self-carriage and an active hind leg. The stallion Luwke BP99 was also present today for his mandatory presentation and showed himself properly.
Stallion inspection 2025
This weekend, the Sunrise Stables in Assen were filled with beautiful, pinto stallions as the fifteenth Barock Pinto Studbook stallion inspection took place. With a large number of visitors from both from the Netherlands and aboard, the stands were well-filled, and there was a great atmosphere. A cozy market place with lovely exhibitors was also set up.
For the first time this year, a street was built in the riding hall. This proved to be a great success, as it allowed the public to get a better view of the horses. The street was perfectly laid out and completely free of charge by Impreza Bestratingen from Drachten.
The organization is very grateful to them, as well as to the other sponsors; Florian Horsefood, De SteenArend paving materials, Ingrid Silhouettes hanging signs, Wind Daktechniek, CLSystems, Equishop SR, and Horse & Transport! Thanks to their support, participants were able to receive beautiful prizes, and the event was wonderfully set up.
The group of young stallions was large and diverse. Three stallions were registered in the XX type, one of which received a breeding lincense: Make My Day SL (Haike BP54 x Painted Black) owned by S. Leenderts.
In the FB type, three stallions were also presented, and Onne van het Hermalen (Nane 492 x Fabe 348) and Jan K (Alwin 469 x Monte 378) owned by A. Okkema stood out. Both stallions had an exceptionally good way of trotting and cantering, and Onne was also very strong in terms of breed type. Both horses were approved with scores of 45.5 and 44.5 points, respectively.
Mees van de Voorsprong (Ivano BP65 x Bontfire XX06) owned by R. Sanchez was the star of the BP type. This majestic stallion, standing at 1.73 meters, achieved an impressive score of 50 points! He has a beautiful silhouette and approaches perfection with a 9.5 for breed type and a 9.0 for his trot, which he displayed with great tact, balance, and expression. Additionally, he steps and canters very strongly. Later, this stallion was deservedly crowned champion of the young stallions.
Finally, L Bibian owned Stal Vrije Paarden (Hidde Ster 72 x Fetse 349) from M.H. Bleyenberg appeared in the ring. This solid stallion, like Lancelot, aimed for a grade increase and was declared Ster with a breeding license with 42 points.
The stallion Pyter FB35 gave a nice free presentation under saddle, and then it was time for the older stallion category. These seven BP type stallions, who still had to present themselves, were all in good to very good condition and did not disappoint. It is clear that a lot of attention is given to these animals. Imperium BP97 and Jidde BP74 competed for the championship, and Jidde turned out to be the most complete stallion in terms of build, breed type, and movement. This stallion has a fantastic frame, a very breed-typical appearance with a beautiful head, a well-developed front, a strong back, and dry legs with good hooves.
The last part of the inspection was the day’s championship. Mees van de Voorsprong and Jidde BP74 remained in the ring to compete for this title. Two stallions of exceptional class, so the choice was difficult for the jury. In the final round, Mees had to give up some points in terms of movement, and the jury chose Jidde, who gave a more consistent presentation. Additionally, the jury was very impressed with the progress the stallion had made over the years.
Congratulations to the owners and trainers on your success(-es), and we wish you a beautiful future with your horse(s)!
As you may notice in the 2025 inspection results, a few catalog numbers are missing. Unfortunately, two stallions did not meet the desired height requirement, and a few were irregular. These stallions can be assessed at another time. In one of the stallions, the DNA result unfortunately did not meet the requirements.
New animal welfare regulations by 2023The Barock Pinto Studbook values animal welfare and unauthorized behavior towards thehorses will not be tolerated. At the moment animal welfare is very topical and a lot of people are concerned about the horse- sport and industry and everything is recordednowadays. We understand the concerns of our fellow citizens and, of course, we alsowant the best for our animals. That is why it has been decided to implement some new rules at inspections and other events of the Barock Pinto Studbook from 1 January 2023.We expect everyone to cooperate with this and we will also address owners if they do notcomply with this. Thank you!
-Burning away hair is not allowed under any circumstances.
-Cutting or shaving tactile hair is not allowed. This means the hair around nose and eye.Long (beard) hairs on the bottom of the jaw may be removed.
-Cutting out or shaving out the ears is not allowed. However, the long hairs protrudingoutside the ears may be removed.
-Cutting off or shaving away the hairs on the tail root is not permitted.
-Horses under three years of age should not be introduced with a bit.
-Nosebands shouldnot be tied too tightly.
-Horses participating in a Barock Pinto Studbook event should be used to being with people and behave like this. This is to prevent horses from appearing ‘straight out of the pasture’in the track with all the stress that entails.
-Horses may only appear at events in good condition. This applies to both highly emaciated animals and to horses that are too overweight.
- The hooves must be cared for, whether or not shod
-Owners of pregnant mares are advised not to participate in an event when the mare is
over half of her pregnancy(5.5 months)
-Unauthorized behavior may result in exclusion from an event.
This includes frequent whip use or heavy-handed pulling on the bit.
Of course we trust that this will never take place.
All judges or board members who are present and witness this behavior may come to this decision.
We kindly request our members to register the newly born foals with the studbook as soon as possible after birth. This is to prevent peak workload at our secretariat after inspections and to expedite passport issuance. For the correct procedure, please follow the step-by-step plan.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
